2003 Renault Sport Clio 172 2.0 16v It’s on 182 wheels with a spare 172 5 spoke in the boot. It’s currently on 102,500 miles which will not rise as it is SORN and won’t be used. I bought this car in February 2019 from a private seller as a second car, and something I would modify for track day use. As yet I’ve not managed to do any of that. It came to me with a reasonable selection of history and receipts (including original bill of sale) from the last 16 years, full book pack and 2 keys. I had the timing and auxialliry belts and tensioner (full kit) changed, along with the dephaser pulley and a replacement O.E. engine mount, at S R S Independent Renault Specialists in Nuneaton in April 2019, at a cost of nearly £900. The car has covered approximately 1500 miles since. It’s in generally good order. All the panels appear to be straight – there is a small dent in the bonnet where a previous owner has pressed a bit hard when closing it, something that seems to afflict 5ese cars. The paint is also scratched in various places, but there is no rot (on account of most of it being plastic I assume). Plenty more photos available on request. The oil was changed in April ‘19 alongside the belts and pulleys, and the engine runs as I would expect. Gearbox doesn’t crunch and the clutch is strong and slip-free. I had a list of jobs to do which included having the air con regassed and the passenger seat repaired (the lever to slide the seat forward and back has come off – it still tilts), but never got round to it. It’s also missing the n/s wheel arch liner, which is also something peculiarly common to these cars. They are however still available. One of the wheels has a couple of kerb marks and the steering wheel alps needs to be retrieved, as it’s got the same wear to the leather and thumb grips that most of these cars suffer from. I did however replace the headlight washer jets, washer bottle and both pumps. Electrically it all works including 6 cd changer, auto lights and wipers, cruise and speed limiter and remote locking. Passenger window switch is temperamental but passenger window still works from driver’s switch. No engine warning lights, no nasty surprises. First registered 11/11/2003, MOT until 08/02/2020. 6 previous keepers, full V5 and both keys, plus book pack available. Car is currently SORN in Wellingborough, just off the A45 between the Wilby turn and Victoria Park. If your intention is to come and test drive the car, you will need to provide proof of insurance IN YOUR NAME. YOUR INSURANCE DOCUMENT WHICH SHOWS YOU ARE THIRD PARTY INSURED ON ANY CAR IS NOT SUFFICIENT. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. I’m convinced that these are going to be the next 205 GTi and will start to rise in value in the near future. A forthcoming house move means I don’t have the space to store it, nor the time to enjoy it. I may, however consider a trade or a p/x for something slightly more classic. Mk2 golf or 1.8T mk3 or similar. No warranty is offered or implied, all sales are final and all rights are reserved. It is up to the buyer to carry out their own checks before purchasing the car.
